The Carnival in Murter is held for almost 130 years. It gathers a large number of participants, and with time it became the traditional event full of fun, relaxation and reaction to the social problems and life situations. On the carnival Tuesday the procession starts from the Old Murter towards Hramina, where, after presentation of all the carnival groups and masks, the judge proceeding against Krnje follows, blamed for all the bed things happened in the past year. Then follow the indictment, the process of burning Krnje and the carnival dance, during which the best masks are awarded.

The town of Skradin is situated at the place where the river Krka flows into the Adriatic. It is a peculiar and romantic little Dalmatian town with warm-hearted inhabitants. You can experience their hospitality by visiting the Eco-etno fair, where you can learn everything what you always wanted to know about the culture and the history of this area.

Presented at the fair are Skradin traditional clothes, crafts, jewellery, various other handicrafts and alimentary ecological products.

The legend says that when God created the Earth some stones fell down to the blue sea, and when he turned around he was impressed by its beauty and decided to let it be. That was the creation of Kornati, a labyrinth of 152 island, islets and reefs and one of Croatian national parks. The idea about the sailing regatta Kornati cup came spontaneously on the Day of Our Lady in 1984, when a group of sailing lovers emerged with three boats from Murter towards Piškera.

Already in the next year, 1985, the first regatta in Austrian-Croatian co-production gathered 27 boats and became the traditional one in the Easter time. In 1988 there were 118 boats participating the Kornati Cup, what made it one of the biggest regattas on the east side of the Adriatic.

The war of the 90es didn’t prevent the organisation of the event, which became more interesting every year. So, there are still stories circulating about the Murter’s fest on Rudina, unplanned stops on Piškera and dangerous navigation at night requiring a maximum from the boats and the crews. Since 2001 the Kornati cup has been getting its today’s organisational form, a unique union of sport and fun, professional yachtsmen and the ones finding the score to be not the most important one.

The Flower Fair was held for the first time in May 2009. The goal of this event is to become a part of tradition of the Tisno area. Nowadays, it is not limited exclusively to this area, but joins the whole Republic of Croatia; it unites flower and plant producers from across the state, giving them an opportunity to exhibit the results of their work.

There are sets, garden plants and flowers, olives, figs, almonds and many others on display. Besides the exhibition, there is also the sale as a part of the event, not only of flowers and plants, but also of the traditional products made of them, as rakija (homemade brandy), oil and similar. The event has not only an exhibition, but also an educational character.

A little church dedicated to the Madonna of Tarac is a modest single-naved sacral building (a type of the rural late Romanesque church). It was built on the place of an old Christian basilica; the remains of the old church were probably used in the construction of the new one. The church is still used for the ceremony of the Holy Mass (every first Sunday in July), taking it out of the standard religious frames and making it a part of the tourist attraction of Murter.

The Vodice Jazz Festival, a gathering place of all the eminent Croatian and foreign jazz musicians will this year also offer to the music lovers two evenings of unforgettable jazz atmosphere by the sea.

Since it started in New Orleans at the beginning of the last century until today, this music style has got many admirers, and besides the classic jazz on the Festival there will be represented its numerous types as swing, free jazz and fusion. This traditional festival is one of the most visited and most interesting events in Vodice.

Every settlement has its own fest. Similar to this, every fest has something characteristic, something what makes each and one settlement unique.

For the inhabitants of Tribunj and their guests this characteristic is the Donkey race, an event of smile and joy. The Donkey race itself is what attracts so many people in Tribunj on the first day of August. It looks like as the task is not so complicated, all there is to do is to reach the goal by riding the donkey.

But, it is complicated enough to make him to move at all at the start, and the way to the goal is hilarious for all the visitors.

This fest is dedicated to Our Lady of Angels traditionally celebrated for decades on the island of Krapanj. The fest starts with a Holy Mass and it is continued with a boat procession around the island of Krapanj.

"Dalmatian Chanson Evenings" is a festival of the authentic Dalmatian song that has been held in Šibenik since 1998. It presents the original Dalmatian song which does not give up the pop-song but has an inclination to the chanson - a song whose most important expression is a verse. The performers are usually also the authors of music and lyrics and they know how to adjust the words to the melody and how to create special atmosphere.

"Dalmatian Chanson" is a recently made project in order to celebrate the 700th anniversary of Šibenik diocese and the date when Šibenik was officially named town. 1998 was the year in which Šibenik celebrated many jubilees: The Šibenik Brass Band observed the 150th anniversary, The City Choir "Kolo" celebrated the 100th anniversary, the oldest Croatian children's choir "Zdravo maleni" celebrated the 40th anniversary, and the male voice choir "St. Michael" observed the 25th anniversary. The evenings of the Dalmatian Chanson, established in that jubilee year, will certainly confirm the centuries old Šibenik singing tradition. Šibenik is known as the cradle of culture, art, science and particularly Dalmatian song. By this festival it proves the status of being the source of the authentic Dalmatian song - the fact Šibenik has been proud of for centuries.

The wedding ceremony of Murter has been organised as the presentation of the forgotten traditional wedding customs making a part of the rich cultural heritage, as an event making the inhabitants as well as the numerous guests interested, aiming to become the traditional one.

The participants of the Wedding ceremony of Murter, men, women and children, are all dressed in the traditional clothes making a procession with the bride and groom together with the bridesmaid at the head of it. Afterwards, all the participants dance the traditional dance of special choreography and rhythm until the early morning hours. In addition, they enjoy the traditional delicacies.

There are again the famous canons on the Šibenik’s waterfront, their tubes fume again, but this time not because of the defence of the Town from the sea enemy, but within the event The International medieval fair in Šibenik, when the inhabitants of Šibenik show to their guests all the richness of the cultural-historical heritage of their town.

The program of the Fair offers a unique demonstration of life, work and catering accomplishments from the period in which Šibenik was the biggest Croatian town. Three days long the people in the traditional clothes, jugglers, clowns, fanfares, archers, knights, organists and many other dominate the Town, and at the same time the Šibenik’s artisans demonstrate the traditional ways of wood, metal, undergrowth and stone processing.

"Big game fishing" is an international sports competition; its aim is to hunt for big fish and gather sport fishermen from all over the world. It is held in Jezera at the end of September and it lasts for a week. The initiator and co-organizer of the "Big game fishing" is the Sport-Fishing association "Punta rata" from Jezera.

The regatta Latinsko idro (Latin sail) was organised for the first time in 1998 in honour of the fest of St. Michael, the patron of the parish of Murter. To the inhabitants of Murter this regatta gives a prefect chance to step back in time, away from the modern and sophisticate sails in the bays of Murter, preserving the heritage and everything that inhabitants once were and deep down inside never stopped to be. Latinsko idro is not a boat, not a regatta, not a tourist fest…Latinsko idro is a reminder of a lifestyle and of the spiritual world. Latinsko idro is a synthesis of all the actions and methods, knowledge and crafts, all the sea skills and testing, of spirit and believing, of everything intertwined in this area. The event Latinsko idro has a rich cultural-entertainment-educational program.

There are different workshops for young people demonstrating the sea skills, but also different presentations, lectures, exhibitions, evenings of the typical word in the authentic ambience of the Kornati’s house, the traditional breakfast on the old waterfront, etc. The culmination of the week is the Regatta itself passing exclusively the old sailing ways of the past times. The awards for the best competitors need to be original and typical ones supporting the main goals of the Latinsko idro – originality, youth, experience and honour. So the awards are “the sail”, “the paddle”, “the wheel” and others.
